New green oakleaf - NiZ 44-675

The lettuce market is a fast changing one as new varieties with improved pest and disease tolerance make an entrance.

The Nickerson-Zwaan breeders have been developing a range of new types that are well suited for the New Zealand market. One such variety is the green oakleaf NiZ44-675, suited for year round full head or babyleaf production.

NiZ44-675 produces a nice 3D leaf shape, that is nicely rounded with a smooth to slight blistered finish. The plant has high resistance to Bremia races 1-24 as well as good tolerance to tipburn.

The high yield of useable leaf with a long shelf life has made this variety very attractive to processors.
